Arknights: Endfield Version 1.4 Update Introduces Upgraded PSSR for PS5 Pro

Arknights: Endfield is set to enhance its visual experience on PlayStation 5 Pro with the introduction of upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) as part of the Version 1.4 update. This update, launching on July 16, promises sharper image quality, improved temporal stability, and smoother performance, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in the expansive sci-fi world of Endfield.

The upgraded PSSR significantly enhances character detail, making outfits and material textures appear more defined. Players will notice finer costume details and layered materials that contribute to the game’s distinctive character designs, enhancing clarity during exploration, combat, and story scenes.

Visual Improvements Across Environments

Endfield’s stylized environments will also benefit from the upgraded PSSR. Players can expect lush vegetation, sprawling industrial facilities, and vibrant wildlife to maintain crisp detail, enriching the exploration experience across the game’s diverse maps. The upgrade ensures that even during fast-paced gameplay, image integrity and clarity are preserved, allowing for a seamless experience at higher frame rates and 4K resolution.

David Gu, CTO of Hypergryph, noted that integrating the upgraded PSSR required minimal engineering effort while significantly improving image clarity and stability across various gameplay scenarios. This enhancement aims to present the world of Arknights: Endfield with greater visual consistency, ensuring a smooth exploration and combat experience.

New Content and Features in Version 1.4

The Version 1.4 update, titled "Companionship Celebration: Homecoming," marks the largest content expansion since the game's launch. It introduces a major story expansion with Chapter 3: Acts 1 & 2, culminating in the Wuling storyline's dramatic conclusion. Players will explore two new regions—Yinglung Pass and the North Wuling Exclusion Zone—each featuring unique environmental mechanics and a new boss encounter with Alleikhreos.

Additionally, players will meet Arcane, a Nature Caster specializing in Corrosion and crowd control, and Liino, an Electric Supporter with healing and amplification abilities. These new operators will enhance team compositions and gameplay strategies.

Version 1.4 also introduces several gameplay additions, including:

• Echoes of War, a permanent seasonal challenge mode with exclusive rewards.
• The Rooted Realm, a new roguelike mode with progressively unlocked stages.
• Heat Rage! Mega Arena!, a limited-time co-op challenge.

Players can also look forward to an expanded AIC Factory, new progression systems, and generous Half Anniversary rewards, including a free 6★ weapon and recruitment permits.
