KONAMI and Evil Empire Unveil Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, a Bold New Chapter

KONAMI has officially announced the return of its iconic franchise with the unveiling of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. Developed by French studio Evil Empire, known for their work on Dead Cells, this new installment promises to blend classic elements with modern gameplay mechanics.

Set against the backdrop of a gothic Paris in 1499, players will step into the shoes of Trevor Belmont and his daughter, Rose. The game opens with Paris engulfed in flames as they confront monstrous creatures emerging from the shadows. The narrative continues the legacy of the series while introducing Rose as a new heroine, who becomes embroiled in a dark conspiracy.

Gameplay Innovations

One of the standout features of Belmont’s Curse is its enhanced whip mechanics, allowing players to navigate the environment with agility and creativity. The whip, a hallmark of the franchise, has been reimagined to facilitate both combat and traversal, making players feel like powerful vampire hunters.

Players will encounter a variety of legendary bosses, including Death and Medusa, as well as new foes like Joan of Arc. Defeated bosses can be captured in Rose's tarot cards, transforming them into Arcana that grant unique abilities and spells, adding a layer of strategy to combat.
