Mario Tennis Fever Launches on Nintendo Switch 2 with New Characters and Modes

The beloved Mario Tennis series is making a comeback with the announcement of Mario Tennis Fever, launching exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 12. This new installment promises to deliver over-the-top tennis action with a variety of new features and characters.

Mario Tennis Fever will introduce 38 playable characters, marking the largest roster in the series' history. Notable newcomers include Goomba, Nabbit, Piranha Plant, Baby Wario, and Baby Waluigi. Players can utilize classic tennis techniques such as Topspin, Slices, and Lobs, while also experimenting with innovative gameplay mechanics.

One of the standout features of Mario Tennis Fever is the introduction of Fever Rackets. Players can choose from 30 new rackets, each equipped with unique abilities. For example, the Ice Racket can freeze parts of the court, while the Mini Mushroom Racket shrinks opponents. Players can also unleash powerful Fever Shots by filling up their Fever Gauge, adding a strategic layer to matches.

The game will feature both new and returning modes, catering to players of all skill levels. Among the new additions is the Trial Towers mode, where players face a series of challenges. The Mix It Up mode introduces unconventional rules, such as Ring Shot and Forest Court Match, which require players to adapt their strategies. Additionally, players can engage in Wonder Court Matches that incorporate Wonder Effects inspired by the Super Mario Bros. Wonder game.

Returning favorites include an enhanced Tournament mode, complete with play-by-play commentary from a Talking Flower, and various online modes like Online Room and Ranked Matches. For those looking for a more relaxed experience, Swing Mode allows players to use their Joy-Con 2 controllers to hit different shots with gentle swings.

Adventure mode offers a single-player campaign where iconic characters like Mario and Luigi must regain their tennis skills after being transformed into babies by mysterious monsters. This mode provides a unique way for players to practice and refine their techniques.

In addition to the game, Nintendo is releasing new Light Purple and Light Green Joy-Con 2 controllers, which will also be available on February 12. Pre-orders for both the game and the new controllers are currently open on the My Nintendo Store and at select retailers.
