Summer Game Fest 2026: Details on 6 PS5 Games

The Summer Game Fest Play Days featured a variety of titles this year, giving developers the opportunity to showcase and allow players to experience upcoming games for the PS5. I attended the SGF Play Days this year to get a closer look at these games and even played several of them. Here’s everything I saw during the Summer Game Fest. One of the highlights was 'gen Atlas', the next title from acclaimed developer Fumito Ueda. Although a second trailer was revealed during the SGF Showcase, little is known about the game since its announcement last year at the Game Awards. I had the chance to see more than what was shown in the trailer during a demo and spoke with Ueda about what players can expect. In 'gen Atlas', players wake up in a world filled with technologically advanced ruins and giant figures scattered throughout, in a seemingly abandoned world. Players will need to uncover what happened and why humanity has vanished. The game features a giant robot that assists players in exploring the world, solving puzzles, and battling colossal machines. Ueda emphasized that 'gen Atlas' aims to provide a fresh experience, diverging from the themes of his previous works, which formed a trilogy. Another notable title is 'Silent Hill: Townfall', set to release on September 24, 2026. Although we couldn’t play it at SGF, a demo provided insight into exploring the eerie fog-covered Scottish town. The game centers around a portable TV that acts as a modern version of the classic Silent Hill radio, helping players navigate and deal with enemies. The protagonist, Simon, uses the TV to receive clues and avoid monsters, showcasing a blend of exploration and survival horror. 'Sonic Pico Park' was also showcased, featuring a chaotic multiplayer cooperative adventure. Players control different characters from the Sonic universe, working together to solve puzzles that require teamwork and coordination. The game promises a fun and chaotic experience as players navigate through various challenges. Additionally, 'Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2' continues the franchise's legacy, expanding on the original with new enemies and cooperative gameplay. Players will face hordes of xenomorphs and utilize various weapons and abilities to survive. Lastly, 'Virtua Fighter Crossroads' and 'Crazy Taxi World Tour' were introduced, both promising to bring fresh narratives and gameplay mechanics to their respective franchises. 'Crossroads' will feature a single-player narrative that changes based on player choices, while 'World Tour' revitalizes the Crazy Taxi experience with new characters and multiplayer elements. Overall, the Summer Game Fest Play Days provided an exciting glimpse into the future of gaming on PS5, with a diverse lineup of titles that cater to various tastes and preferences.
